 Astoria
is small cruise ship, property and operated by Transocean Tours.
The ship has gross tonnage of 18,591 gross tons. The ship is not
large and also not modern. The vessel Astoria is part of those cruise
ships, which were built in 20th century mostly for offering cheap
cruises. Astoria was built in 1980 in Germany in the ship-yard of
Howaltswerke Deutsche Werft, Kiel. The ship Astoria was built for
the new company Hadag Cruise Line, which quickly decided that the
cruise ships are not so profitable and stopped its work. The ship
Astoria was sold to Safmarine, newly formed South African company
and ship started operating between South Africa and Europe on regular
routes. Later the vessel changed owners much time, to reach the
situation from nowadays to be part from the fleet of
Transocean
Tours. The ship Astoria has length of 164.30 meters (or about 539.2
feet) and beam of 22.60 meters (or about 74.1 feet). The cruise
ship has normal capacity of 512 passengers, while the maximum capacity
is 602 passengers. These guests will be served by 220 crew members,
who are offering some of the highest rated service. The cruise ship
has four main engines Sulzer-Wartsila with total power of 15,400
kW. The service speed of the vessel is 20.4 knots, which is quite
high speed for such old vessel, which is Astoria.
The
history of the vessel is quite long, but the high quality materials
used for building of this luxury cruise ship give her life of more
than 40 years. The ship is now operating in Europe and sailing in
some of the most beautiful parts of the old continent. The passengers
of Astoria are visiting fiords of Norway, Gibraltar, United Kingdom
or Italy.  The
ship is offering great luxury and very nice vacation for the guests
on board. The ship has 7 passengers decks and more than 25 percents
from cabins have own balconies, while more than 65 percents have
