Phoenix
Leader is the newly built car carrier with capacity for 6,501 units.
The vessel was built into the ship-yard of Imabari Shipbuilding
Co. Ltd at the beginning of the year. The Phoenix Leader can carry
also buses, trucks and recreational vehicles, but then the capacity
decreases to 5,400 units. Phoenix Leader is property of Onjin Shipholding
S.A. The vessel has 3 sister-ships, built into the same ship-yard,
but I think that this vessel is shining with many stars in the sky
of Car Carriers.
Phoenix Leader has a length of 199.94 meters, a beam of 32.2 meters
and a draught of 34.80 meters. These measurements are forming one
very large car carrier with gross tonnage of 61,804 metric tons.
The cargo space is 55,484 cubic meters, and this is the exact space

Western
Highway is the newly build car carrier of the ship-owner Bulkstar
Enterprise. The vessel has a capacity to carry 3,893 units. The
car carrier has 10 decks, and while building the most important
problem that was solved, was about security and high production
of roll on and roll off of cars. The ship can be loaded from 2 points,
ramps situated on the starboard middle and on the stern. The ramps
can load not more than 10 cars per minute, but even this rate is
too big for the loading of such vessel. The vessel can carry heavy
vehicles on board only on the two decks. All the decks can be lift,
which is very important for car carriers for quick loading and discharging.
The ship
Western Highway was built in Shin Kurushima Dockyard Ltd and Onushi
Shipyard in May, 2007. The vessel has deadweight of 12,980 metric
tons and a gross tonnage of 39,422 metric tons. The measurements
of the vessel are generous. The length of Western Highway is 188.03
meters and beam is 28.20 meters... date: 30th April, 2008
The
largest Car Carrier in the world is named motor vessel Faust. The
ship is one of the interesting engineer outfits. The vessel was
built in 2007 in the ship-yard of Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine
Engineering DSME. The ship is sailing under the flag of Sweden and
with its deadweight of 30,383 metric tons in maximum draft is the
largest car carrier built ever. Well the number looks too low, but
car carriers are designed to carry light cargoes, and their freeboards
are too big. That is the main reason this one to have so little
deadweight. But
m/v Faust has not so little measurements. The Gross Tonnage of the
vessel is 71,583 metric tons, with a length of 228 meters and a
beam of 33 meters. The maximum draft of m/v Faust is 11.5 meters
and the Air Draft of the vessel is 52 meters. The capacity of the
ship is for nearly 8000 cars, but this large vessel is designed
to carry not only cars, but also trucks. The vessel Faust is very

One
of the largest car carriers of the world, built ever is the one
called m/v Sunbelt Spirit. The vessel is part of the fleet of the
large company for Ro-Ro Ships - Great American Lines Inc. When the
ships was built in 2002, it was the largest RCC (reefer/car-carrier)
and now is in the most successful and beautiful engineer decisions,
that had even been made. The RCC ships has no ballast voyages, which
is the main reason to be designed such kind of ships. In the one
way RCCs are carrying cars and together with this they may carry
general cargo. This type of ships were too much discussed and I
think that the problem with them were too much and no more ships
from this kind were built, and the ships from this series stayed
unique. The Sunbelt Spirit is vessel designed to carry refrigetrated
goods, which is very hard about engineers to design such kind of
