     Brasilia Highway

Brasilia Highway  One of the newest and most modern car carriers is Brasilia Highway. The Ro-Ro vessel was built in 2009 in Marugame Shipyard from the famous builder - Imabari Shipbuilding Co Ltd. The vessel is quite modern and very large having capacity for 6,237 units. The ship has overall length of 199.97 meters, while the length between perpendiculars is 192.00 meters. The value is quite important for navigation and ship handling. The beam of Brasilia Highway is 32.26 meters and the depth of the vessel is 34.48 meters. While the ship is fully loaded the draft can reach 10.00 meters. The deadweight of the ship is 18,793 metric tons and the gross tonnage is 59,440 gross tons. The ship is modern, large and very reliable. The ship has main engine Kobe Diesel-MITSUBISHI B&W 8UEC60LSII, which is high economy and very high power. The engine is giving power of 13,260 kW at 100 rpm, which is enough for service speed of 20.0 knots. The cargo ship has 11 car decks and also one garage on the upper accommodation deck in the aft part. Two of all cargo decks are liftable specially for cargo handling and cargo Brasilia Highway shipoperations. The ship has also one deck available for roll-on/roll-off with two movable ramps. The aft ramp allows the ship to be loaded and discharged from 3 points, which make the process very short and optimized. The ship is very modern and very quality. The special shape of the hull is reducing the water resistance and increase the power of the main engine. The paint used to cover the hull is protecting the hull for overgrowth and reduces the needs from cleaning. The new model of the engine is giving high power at low revolutions. The special system for controlling of exhaust system is introduced on this ship in case to reduce the air pollution, while ship is operating.
The navigational equipment of Brasilia Highway is according to latest requirements of IMO and SOLAS and also with latest innovations. The ECDIS is plotting the ship position directly on the electronic chart, which is reducing the work of navigational officer and gives him enough time for analyzing the situation around. Integrated ARPA and AIS are making the maneuvering easy and ship acknowledgment quite simple. The ship is constructed according to best practices of Imabari Shipbuilding and really is among the best cargo ships built last years.
