Cape
Dover is one of the new and large bulk carriers. The ship is really
large and has deadweight of 185,000 metric tons. This is high value
for this sector of maritime transport. We all know that bulk carriers
are ships, which usually a times smaller than this one, because
it is pretty hard to complete ship with such size, bulk cargo and
enough ship’s stability. But Kawasaki Shipbuilding Corporation
did it and created one of the best and most modern bulk cargo ships.
Cape Dover was completed in 2006 in the Sakaide Shipyard. The proud
owner of this beautiful ship is “K” Line Bulk Shipping
(UK) Limited. The cargo ship has overall length of 290.00 meters,
while the length between
perpendiculars is 280.00 meters. The beam of the ship is 47.00 meters,
with depth of 24.40 meters and draft, while the ship is fully loaded
of 17.95 meters. These are simple measurements of the bulk carrier.
Cape Dover is one really innovating and reliable ship, designed
with latest requirements of IMO to be safety and environmental.
The deadweight of the vessel is 185,000 metric tons, with gross
tonnage of 92,993 gross tons. These measurements are giving to the
bulk carrier capacity for 205,722 cubic meters of cargo. This is
really large cargo capacity compared with the same sized carriers.
And the cargo holds of the vessel are 9, designed with improved
shape and rationalized cargo equipment. The hull form is improved
for better stability, and largest cargo space. The diesel engine
is also important part of the vessel, and the one installed on board
of Cape Dover is Kawasaki-MAN B&W 6S70MC MkVI, tuned according
to latest technologies and lowest fuel consumption. This is quite
important for ship-owner, but also reducing the CO2 emissions in
the air. The maximum power, which this engine gives to the carrier
is 16,860 kW at 91rpm. This is enough for the vessel to realize
service speed of 14.7 knots. The ship has improved hull shape, bulk
shape, to reduce fuel consumption and increase speed of the ship. date: 16th June, 2009
