Elbegas
is one real engineer wonder of world of shipping, not because of
its large size, or high-technology engines, but mostly because of
the dangerous cargo, which this vessel is carrying. Elbegas is LPG
(Liquid Peroleum Gas) Carrier, with deadweight of 7,656 metric tons.
The vessel was built in the late year 1983, when the ship-building
was not so well developed, but in spite of that it is sailing absolutely
safety, through the years. The vessel has a length of 116.54 meters,
breadth of 17.25 meters. The draught of the ship is 9.67 meters
and these measurements are enough for the ship to carry nearly 6,368
cubic meters of cargo. We should also add to that information, that
gross tonnage of the ship is 5,958 metric tons and net tonnage is
1,787 metric tons. The vessel was built in Orenstein & Koppel
in Germany, which was one very qualited ship-yard for the years
of building this vessel, and that is the main reason, this ship
to have all necessary equipment for carrying LPG. Elbegas is certified
by German Lloyd Register, and every year there is inspections for
the condition of the vessel and this vessel every year pass the
inspections almost without
any problems. The flag, which Elbegas is sailing is Liberian, like
most of the ships of Ahrenkiel Group, one of the largest ship-owners
of the world of Chemical carrying.
The vessel Elbegas has a main engine MaK8M551 MCR with
a full power of 4,000 kW, which is giving enough power for the vessel
to reach a speed of 16 knots, which is the maximum speed of the
vessel. The economy cruising speed of Elbegas is 15 knots. The ship
is sailing with heavy fuel oil RMG 380. The auxiliary diesel
generators are three, each with power 558 kW at 900 rpm. The model
of the auxiliary diesel generator is Yanmar, 6UAL-UT, which is very
good for such kind of vessel. That is enough to give power to the
8 cargo pumps, which is the whole number of the vessel Elbegas.
