 The
ship with name Gudrun Maersk is the second largest container vessel
in the world. It can carry 8,500 TEU and fully loaded the ship has
deadweight of 115,700 metric tons. The vessel entered into the fleet
of Maersk in the year 2005, when was some perfect engineer outfit
and was the most discussed ship ever. But just some month ago it
lost the first place again. Gudrun Maersk was built in the ship-yard
of Odense Steel, Denmark. The ship-yard is one of the best qualited
and most known ship-yards in the world. Only good companies can
pay enough for building a good quallited ship for their fleet. More
of the ship-owners prefer the eastern ship-yards, because of the
lower price, but better companies are ready to pay more for better
ship. That is why the largest container company prefer Denmark for
Gudrun Maersk.
The
gross tonnage of the vessel is 97,933 tons. But the measurements
of the vessel are great, in spite of its second place. The length
of Gudrun Maersk is 367 meters and the beam is 43 meters. With these
measurements the vessel is in class Panamax, and this is very  important
for the routes it is making. The voyages that Gudrun Maersk is making
last year are from Far East to Europe and North America. That is
why this class is very important. So big ship, which needs a big
speed needs of strong engine. The one that is installed on the vessel
Gudrun Maersk is MAN B&W 10K90MC, which is gividng to the vessel
a full power of 61,285 hp at 94 rpm.

one, just some month ago, but after building of Emma Maersk, it
lost the first place. The port of registry of the vessel is Svenborg,
and the ship is sailing under the flag of Denmark. The ship has
5 sister-ships – Giertrud Maersk, Gerd Maersk, Grete Maersk,
Gunvor Maersk and Georg Maersk. The ships are well known for all
people interested in sailing and ther last one was the longest ship
is the family of Maersk, before building of Emma Maersk. But that
is all about the family of Maersk Company. In fact the company own
5200 ships, and has the largest container fleet in the world.
