High Glow  High Glow is product tanker property of Golden Pegasus Navigation S.A. The ships from this class are not carrying crude oil cargoes, but usually some oil products, which are high explosive and very dangerous for the nature. The shipbuilder Naikai Zosen Corporation created this beauty in the ship-yard of Setoda Works and designed it according to the latest requirements of IMO and SOLAS. The ship High Glow is with maximized beam to pass through Panama Canal and the double bottom allows the ship to carry light and heavy oil products and also palm oil. The cargo ship has overall length of 179.90 meters and beam of 32.20 meters. The depth of the ship is 19.25 meters and the draft when fully loaded can reach 11.65 meters. The product tanker High Glow has deadweight of 46,846 metric tons and gross tonnage of 28,245 gross tons. These measurements are showing us the large capacity of the vessel, which is 54,000 cubic meters. The cargo space of the vessel is divided into 14 cargo tanks divided into starboard tanks and port tanks. The ship is equipped also with own pumps used for discharging of the liquid cargoes. The pumps have ability to discharge 800 cubic meters per hour. If we have in mind that ship can be discharged at maximum 2 points, easily can be calculated that the cargo rate is more than 1,500 cubic meters per hour and the whole ship can be discharged for 36 hours. This is pretty high speed for such vessel, which reduces the costs for staying in ports and increases the profits of the ship-owner.
The builders of the modern vessel High Glow, paid high attention for the engine used on board and the shape of the hull, to give maximum speed of the vessel with low water resistance. In this case the fuel consumption will be reduced and the cargo ship will be more useful. The main engine used on board is Hitachi-MAN B&W 6S50ME-C, which gives total power of 8,530 kW at 123 rpm. The main engine is quite modern and very reliable. The service speed of the vessel is 15.7 knots, while the maximum speed is increased to 16.5 knots. High Glow is really interesting vessel in engineer point of view. The high forecastle decreases the swashing of the bow and increases seaworthiness, which reduces the fuel consumption in heavy sea. The ship-builders introduced special rudder facilitates, which increased the maneuverability in narrow ports. All these systems combined with eco-friendly systems for preventing air pollution are making this ship quite modern and very useful for the ship-owner.
