Kasagisan VLCC  The VLCC Kasagisan is one of the most modern ships from this class built last years. The ship has overall length 333.00 meters, while the length between perpendiculars is 324.00 meters. These measurements are quite important for maneuvering of the vessel and ship’s stability. The beam of Kasagisan is 60.00 meters and the depth of the boards is 28.80 meters. While the vessel is fully loaded the drafts reached maximum 20.46 meters. The VLCC (Very Large Crude Carrier) is quite big in size, and the deadweight of the vessel is 302,478 metric tons. The gross tonnage of the ship is 160,216 gross tons. The full capacity of the vessel is 354,689 cubic meters. This is quite bid value of crude oil transported by one cargo ship. The main engine of the vessel is Mitsui-MAN B&W 7S80MC-C, which provides for the vessel maximum power of 27,160 kW at 76 rpm. This is amazing result for the engine and hull design, so the vessel can reach speed of 15.4 knots. Oil tankers usually are not in need of high speed, because the most important feature of their operation is the cargo carrier – much is better. The ship-builders from Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co Ltd decided to introduce the highest qualited paint to increase the speed of the vessel and to reduce losing of energy because of overgrowth of the hull, whicjh usually cause big problems for the vessel. The Bow shape also decreased the flood of the forepeak and increase the power given to the hull from the main engine.
The vessel has the MIPB-Wing, which is innovation and developed device designed to improve propulsion efficiency and to increase the power of the ship. The voyage speed and fuel consumption have been improved together to reach the most efficient relation, between these two features. The stern shape is also created to reduce the fuel consumption and to give maximum speed of the vessel. The main engine has newly created electronic-control system for for the lub-oil in the cylinders to decrease ship operation costs. Really the VLCC Kasagisan is designed to be profitable, to be easy for operation and to be environmental. All these feature are required to newly built ships, because of the ecological problems, caused by developing of the economy.
