     Kiho

Kiho  Kiho is cargo vessel with very large size. This ship is carrying crude oil and has deadweight of 300,866 metric tons. The gross tonnage of the vessel Kiho is 159,923 gross tons. The VLCC was built by IHI Marine United Inc in 2006. The ship is high quality, designed according to latest requirements of IMO and created to be environmental and profitable. The ship was built in Kure Shipyard, which is well known Asian Shipyard. The ship Kiho has length of 333.00 meters and beam of 60.00 meters. The depth of the VLCC is 29.00 meters and the draft, when the ship is fully loaded reaches 20.50 meters. Such large vessel will need strong and reliable main engine. The one installed on board of Kiho is DU-Wartsila 7RTflex84T-D, which provides total power of 27,160 kW at 74.0rpm, which is enough for the ship to reach service speed of 15.5 knots. Such large crude oil carriers are not in need of high speed, but mostly from large amount of cargo. This is the reason for the shipbuilders to create the vessel with improved shape, which is not decreasing the water resistance, but to Kiho VLCC shiphave maximum cargo space with these measurements. The measurements are calculated to be maximum for passing through Malacca Strait, which size is called also Malaccamax. This is really important tactical shape and size for decreasing the expenses of the ship operator.

The innovations in the shape for low fuel consumption and high power were not possible due to the type of the vessel. That was the reason, for shipbuilders to pay more attention to coverage of the hull. They used special new paint, which reduces the overgrowth of the hull. Together with new bow shape and improved engine of Wartsila, which is giving high power at low revolutions, the ship is getting higher power with lower consumption of fuel. The engine is the first electronically-controlled diesel one, used in VLCC for regulating engine. This provides more efficient usage of the engine, which gives higher power. Also the CO2 emissions dropped in the air are regulated by system. The ship Kiho is designed to be environmental and profitable.
