The new vessel of Leo Ocean S.A., which will be operated by Mitsui
OSK Line (MOL), is MOL Paramount. The container ship MOL Paramount
was built in 2005 by the shipbuilder Imabari Group into the ship-yard
Koyo Dockyard Co Ltd. The vessel has a capacity of 6,350 TEU. The
vessel can carry 2,912 containers into the holds (stowed on up to
9 tiers and 14 rows) and more 3,438 containers on the upper deck
(stowed on up to 7 tiers and 16 rows. The container holds have a
different and more optimized shape and size to increase the cargo
space in them. This also simplified the construction of the hull,
and reduces the expenses for building this vessel. MOL Paramount
is large and very spacefull vessel with very optimized shape and
made to be profitable. The length of MOL Paramount is 293.19 meters,
the beam is 40.00 meters, the draught is 24.30 meters and the draft,
while the vessel is fully loaded is 14.00 meters. The vessel has
deadweight of 72,968 metric tons and Gross tonnage of 71,892 gross
tons. The vessel like MOL Paramount needs of large and strong engine
and
shipbuilder did the exact this. The main engine of the vessel is
Mitsui MAN B&W 11K98MC (MARK 6), which is newly designed and
developed version of MAN B&W 11K98MC engine. It is constructed
with higher flash point, which reduces the CO2 emissions and increases
the power, which the engine gives to the container ship. The full
power of the main engine of MOL Paramount is 62,920 kW x 94.0rpm.
This power allows to the vessel to realize the maximum speed of
26.8 knots, and the cruising (or economy speed) is 26.0 knots. That
is fantastic engine, and innovations into the steel cover and propulsion
system are allowing the vessel to do all these things. The MOL Paramount
is ship has all bridge and maneuvering equipment, which can be installed
to container vessel. Maneuvering into port is supported by two electric
motor drive bow thrusters. The automatic heeling system is installed
to adjust the heel of the ship during cargo handling. The fuel oil
tanks are situated below the water line, which reduce the afraid
to make any collisions into the fuel system, while tugging from
boats. Also to prevent water polutuion, to the vessel are takes
some measures, just like assisting of the turbo generator to electronical
navigation. Also the propeller boss cap fin improves propulsion
efficiency and the Alfa system consumption of cylinder lubricant
in the main engine. This is container ship MOL Paramount, one of
pretty large container ships built last years.
