Manasota
is large bulk carrier property of the ship-owner DryShips Inc. The
vessel was built in 2004 in the famous shipyard of Hyundai Heavy
Industries. The bulk carrier has deadweight of 171,061 metric tons.
The vessel is among the largest bulk carriers of the world. This
is a great engineer outfit and the measurements of the ship are
very large. The length of Manasota bulk carrier is 288.88 meters,
the beam is 45.00 meters and the draft while the ship is fully loaded
is 17.70 meters. This large vessel is very beautiful and high technology.
The motor vessel Manasota is sailing under the flag of Malta, not
due to the low requirements, but mostly because of the low taxes
about owning a ship. The main engine of the vessel is MAN B&W
6S70 MC with maximum power of 22,000 hp. The vessel is not designed
with double hull, because of the type of cargo it is carrying. The
main cargo is grain in bulk, and the capacity of the cargo holds
for grain is 191,422 cubic meters.
And
I told that this vessel has a new and most modern design and outfits.
I think that we should start explaining the ships innovations
with the shape of the hull. It is standard share with crossed angles,
because of higher speed and low water resistance. Here the designer
tried to find the most optimized shape for large cargo capacity
and low water resistance. With this optimization, the designers
did crossed angles inside and outside and this helps to be optimized
the hull shape. Also with this innovation the discharging is pretty
easier, because there will actually have no angles in the holds.
And the ballast tanks are situated into the diagonals and vessel
is feeling absolutely stable and very high profitable. When talking
about innovations, on board of Manasota there are also many new
features about world shipping. The engine is created as the most
modern engines with low CO2 emissions and high power at low rpm.
This makes it strong, very efficient and environmental. And when
the story is about ships, and shipping on the first place should
be the nature and protecting it from prolusion. The fuel tanks are
situated in the aft part of the vessel and there the bottom is made
with double hull just to prevent pollution and to be easier for
work on the engine party. You should see such large and interesting
ship, because it is not only beautiful but also very helpful for
the all ship sailing. And this is Manasota bulk carrier, property
of Dry Ships Inc.
