Margara
is one of the largest product tankers from the fleet of Ernst Jacob.
The vessel has a deadweight of 71,345 metric tons. This is pretty
large measurements for product tanker, because the specify of the
cargo of such vessel. The overall length of the ship is 228.20 meters,
while the length between perpendiculars is 220.00 meters. The moulded
beam of Margara is 32.20 meters and the moulded depth is 20.10 meters.
The maritime transport is one of the largest sectors of economy
and tankers are well popular. There are very large tankers, which
are called VLCC and even larger than them, called ULCC, but product
tankers are smaller. The product tanker Margara has net tonnage
of 21,529 NT and the gross tonnage is 40,705 GT. The TPC of Margara
is 68.00, which value is the ton per centimeter and descibes the
capacity of cargo, which this vessel has. The product tanker of
Ernst Jacob has main engine Sulzer 6RTA62U with full power of 12,000
Kw at 106 rpm. The main engine is very strong and high qualitied,
with low revolution, and high
power. The propeller of Margara is 4 Blades, Right Handed with Fixed
Screw. The coverage of the propeller is Nickel Aluminium Bronze.
The diameter is 6.500mm and the Pitch is 4.820mm. The auxiliary
diesel generators on board are 3 Wartsila 6L20 with power 960 kW
at 900 rpm.
But
we described much about ship propulsion system and measurements,
but the most important information about ship-owner is the cargo
capacity, because this is bringing the freight and the profits of
the company. The Margara product tanker has a cargo capacity for
80,012.10 cubic meters, if the vessel is filled to 98% and the cargo
capacity at 100% is 81,645 cubic meters. The number of cargo tanks
on board of Margara is 10 and the slop tanks are 2. The ship has
12 cargo pumps - 10 x 900 m³/h at 130 m head for the cargo
tanks and 2 x 300 m³/h at 130 m head for the slop tanks. All
cargo tanks are Framo-submerged, self-priming and hydraulically
driven as most of the cargo pumps used on board of the ships. The
ship was built in 3Maj Shipyard Rijeka, Croatia in August 1999 and
all the equipment is modern and innovated for the years of building.
The vessel has discharging rate of 5400 cubic meters per hour at
130 m head. The ship is very interesting in designer point of view
and engineer point of view. Margara is among largest product tankers
of the world and among the largest product tankers of the company
Ernst Jacob. The ship is registered in the Cayman islands, but in
spite of this the vessel is ceritifed by American Bureau of Shipping
with classicication +A1 (E), Oil Carrier, +AMS, +ACCU, SH, ICE
Class 1C. The IMO number of the ship Margara is 9164213 and the
call sign is ZCNE4. The vessel is made from double hull technology,
which is requirement from IMO for all tankers.
