Mignon
is one more car carrier of Wallenius Wilhelmsen Lines. The vessel
is from the largest vessels of the company and has a capacity for
7,200 cars, or 3,700 cars and 600 trucks. The deadweight of motor
vessel Mignon is 28,126 metric tons, the gross tonnage is 67,264
gross tons and the net tonnage is 28,473 net tons. The vessel has
a length of 227.90 meters, a beam of 32.26 meters and the draft
of 11.02 meters, while Mignon is fully loaded. The air draft of
the ship is 47.92 meters and the height of the upper deck is 33.48
meters. You can imagine about the measurements of such ship and
the beauty of this giant in car carrying. The vessel is from large
car carriers, and in the company owning this ship has only little
bigger vessels than Mignon. The ship was built in 1999 in the shipyard
of Daewoo Heavy Industries Ltd. in Korea. The vessel is not so new
and modern but very useful and easy for operations for the officers
and crew on it. This ship is sailing under the flag of Sweden, where
the requirements for the ships are higher than IMO requirements
and the condition of the vessel. The
car carrier Mignon has a cargo capacity of 63,124 cubic meters.
The vessel has 13 cargo decks, from which 3 are hoistable, which
is making the loading and discharging very easy and fast. The innovation
is made also into the stern ramp, which is stronger and larger than
the older vessels'. Mignon's stern ramp is 7.00 meters in width,
5.0 meters in height and has a capacity of 125 metric tons. And
such large vessel needs of large and strong engine. The main engine
of Mignon is KHIK MAN B&W 8S 60MC with full power of 14,700
kW. The propulsion system is very strong and ship's form is giving
more power and higher speed during long voyages. You will be able
to see the underwater shape of the ship only in dry docks, and you
will not be able to do that, but the shape is sharp and the angle
of the hull is small, which reduces the water resistance and increase
the speed of the ship.
The
vessel Mignon is one of very modern and good vessels. The ship is
sailing all over the world under the brand of Wallenius Wilhelmsen
Lines, with call sign SJCD and IMO number 9189251. The ship is very
interesting in all points of view, so I hope that you get some idea
about this vessel from my post. date: 29th July, 2008
