When
talking about new ships, we should mention the vessel Morning Chalotte.
The vessel is one of the newly built car carriers. The overall length
of Morning Charlotte is 199.94 meters and the length between perpendiculars
is 190.00 meters. The beam of the car carrier is 32.20 meters, the
depth is 34.34 meters and the draft, while ship is fully loaded
is 10.00 meters. The car carrying is part of the large economy sector
of maritime transport and the developing of each part of the logistic
is very fast. The car carrier Morning Chalotte has deadweight of
22,578 metric tons and gross tonnage of 60,876 gross tons. The vessel
has a capacity for 6,502 units. And even not from the largest ships,
the vessel is pretty big. The engine of Morning Charlotte is Kobe
Diesel-MITSUBISHI 8UEC 60LSII, which is a good developing of Kobe
engine, and gives a full power of 15,540 kW at 104 rpm. The builder
of this beauty is Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and the ship-owner
is EUKOR. The vessel is the first from two car carriers ordered
by the ship-owner.
Morning
Chalotte is not only strong and fast ship, but also very reliable.
The new innovations into the engine and fuel system are decreasing
the fuel consumption with 5-10%. Also the improved shape is increasing
the power and decrease the water resistance. The arrangement of
the cargo space for the car carrier is consisted of four cargo h9olds
and 12 car decks. Also a garage is added on the uppermost deck aft
part. Two from the decks are luftable, which allows quickly stowing
of the cars on board. Also the vessel can be loaded from 2 points
aft and middle starboard. The time for loading and discharging
of the vessel is decreased with 5%, with stronger ramps for loading
and discharging. Also the propulsion system is designed with new
generation to increase the speed. One Turbo Ring is installed between
the propeller and boss cap. This is made to increase speed performance,
while reducing fuel consumption. This is very profitable for the
ship-owner and from Imabari Shipbuilding tried to innovate the techniques
and machineries for the vessel propulsion system. And this is important
for the whole maritime transport, not only for this vessel. date: 20th August, 2008
