The
chemical tanker Piltene is one of the newly built and very modern
vessels in this class of maritime transport. The ship is very high
qualited and very dynamicaly designed. The overall length of parcel
tanker Piltene is 195.16 meters, while the length between the perpendiculars
is 187.30 meters. The chemical tanker has a moulded beam is 32.20
meters and moulded depth is 17.80 meters. The ship is very modern
and very spaceful designed to carry high profits to the ship-owner.
Mt Piltene has deadweight of 52,648 metric tons and the gross tonnage
of 30,641 gross tons. The ship has maximum draft of 12
meters and
the distance between the keel and the top of the mast is 47 meters.
The ship was built in the ship-yard of "3rd Ma" in Croatia.
The ship-yard is very high qualited and the parcel tanker built
there is from good class. Multitank Piltene carry clasification
1A1 ICE-1B Tanker for Chemicals and Oil, IMO SHIP TYPE 3. The chemical
tanker is property of LASCO, LSC Shipmanagement SIA, Skrunda Navigation
Inc. And so large and spacefull ship designed to carry so dangerous
good should be veryreliable
and very strong. The main engine of Piltene is MAN Wartsila 7RTA48T,
which has full power of 9,650kW. The propulsion system of the vessel
is produced in Wartsila Switzerland Ltd. The maximum speed of the
tanker Piltene is 16.2 knots while the ship is under ballast and
15.4 knots while the ship is fully loaded. Unfortunately this chemical
tankerdo not need so high speed and fuel consumption increases hard
with so high speed. So the cruising speed of the vessel is mostly
used in voyages and it is 15.5 knots under ballast
and 14.2 knots while the ship is fully loaded. In spite of all the
words told by me in the previous sentences the ship is very fast
for such type of vessel. Also the main engine is reliable and low
revolution to give high power and low fuel and luboil consumption.
The ship is part from the contract for 14 parcel tankers ordered
by the company Lasco to innovate and fill its fleet. And chemical
tanker Piltene has also three three auxiliary boilers produced in
Saacke Marine Systems in Zagreb, Croatia. The ship is not equipped
with bow thrusters but due to type of the vessel Piltene is useful
and very maneuverable. The ship is from low category, mostly designed
to carry lub oils and some other cargoes, but in spite of this the
