The ore carrier NSS Honesty was built in the year 2007 from the
ship-builder Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. The
vessel has an overall length of 327 meters and length between perpediculars
of 313 meters. So many people may wonder what I mean by length between
perpediculars and why it is used. In dependence of the ships construction,
bow form and design of the buld, every ship has a diferent angle
of attack of the bow to the water. So this means that overall length
of some ships can be same, but the cargo space to be different.
That is the main reason to be used fore perpendicular and aft perpendicular.
They are calculating the length of the vessel, cargo space, ship's
stability and many important components from the ships science.
The breadth of the ship NSS Honesty is 52 meters in the middle,
which is the largest breadth of the vessel. The draught is 24.30
meters and the draft, while NSS Honesty is fully loaded reaches
18.10 meters. The deadweight of the bulk carrier is 229,584 metric
tons and the gross tonnage is 113,628 metric tons. These large and
pretty good measurements for one bulk carrier (or ore carrier) need
of large engine, which should be able to move this mass
through the water. The main engine of NSS Honesty is Mitsui-MAN
B&W 6S80MC with full power of 21,840kW at 79rpm. The low revolution
engine is strong and can give to the vessel maximum speed 15.55
knots. The vessel NSS Honesty has a fuel consumption of 106 tons
heavy fuel oil per day. But this happens only with normal speed
under ballast, which is nearly 14.25 knots. The vessel is very interesting
in designer point of view.
The
cargo holads are designed to carry heavy cargo, with high density.
But designers of the ship NSS honesty have one more question in
front of them. The main ports of the vessel are situated in Australia,
where the draft is restricted and the ship measurements too. The
vessel NSS Honesty is designed to be perfect in designer decision
for the Australian ports and is suitable for easy loading and discharging.
the requirements in this part of the world is pretty high. IMO has
special requirements about the Malaysian Archipelago, but the vessel
covers all of them. The fuel system is developed with fuel tanks
in the aft part, all with membrane structure to prevent water polution.
The air polution is decreased with new reduced system for filtering
the gasses thrown in the air. The CO2 emissions are decreased with
more than 15%. This is very important ecological decision of Heyday
Shipping S.A., the ship-woner of NSS Honesty.
