     Ondina

Ondina  Ondina is oil tanker of the Stasco Ship Management, which is operating for the well-known Shell International Trading and Shipping Company. The Ondina is Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC), which has deadweight of about 300,000 metric tons and length of 329.40 meters. The beam of the cargo ship is 60.90 meters, while the maximum draft is 21.00 meters. The VLCC has oil capacity of 331,335 cubic meters, which is about 3.8 millions of barrels. The cargo capacity of the ship is pretty high, so Ondina is quite important for modern ship-trading and maritime transport. The ships from this class are known as the hard workers of the seas, so they should be created with highest standarts and with largest requirements. The ship was built in Japan, where we all know that are created some of the best quality ships. In 2002 the ship was delivered from Universal Shipbuilding Corporation, with the name of Front Stratus. Later on, the VLCC was renamed to Ondina and started operating for Shell, carrying crude oil from Nigeria and Persian Bay to USA rafineries of the company. In case to operate useful and to be reliable the Ondina cargo ship has main engine MAN B&W 7S80MC with full power of 25,090 kW. The crude oil tankers are carrying millions of barels of petrol daily, so if any water pollution is faced, the ecology will be in great danger. This was the main reason for IMO to introduce requirements for crude oil tankers to have double hull in case if some accident happens to avoid pollutions.
Ondina is cargo ship registered in Douglas, Isle of Man under IMO number 9248485. The oil tanker is among the largest cargo ships on the planet and is definitely one of the best performing and most profitable vessels. The history and practice showed that VLCCs are carrying larger profits for the ship-owners that ULCCs. This is mostly because most of the time ULCCs do not have enough cargo and operate on 80% from the capacity. This made ship-owners to prefer investing in VLCC ships and this is the main reason so many vessels with deadweight more than 300 thousand metric tons to operate around the oceans. The cargo ship Ondina is high quality vessel, built according to best practices of Hitachi Zosen Ship-yard (now known as Universal Shipbuilding Corporation). The merchant ship is really large and this can be easily seen from the photos and measurements.
