The vessel P&O Nedlloyd Michelangelo is one of the newly build
vessels in the mass production of Asians ship-yards. The vessel
is one large container carrier with length of 335 meters and a beam
of 42.80 meters. The draught of the vessels is 24.40 meters and
the draft, while the ship is fully loaded is 14.00 meters. The ship
was finished in the year 2005 by the famous ship-builder Ishikajima-Harima
Heavy Industries CO Ltd Inc, which is a company situated in Japan,
which is specialized in construction of large container ships. P&O
Nedlloyd Michelangelo is operated by the company Michelangelo Star
Schifffahrtsgesellschaft MBH Co. KG. This is large company for logistic
and maritime transport of container cargos. The vessel P&O Nedlloyd
Michelangelo is one of the pearls in the crown of P&O Nedlloyd
B.V., Germany, because this vessel is not only new, but also very
large as you can imagine. The deadweight of the ship is 97,517 metric
tons and the Gross tonnage is 94,724 gross tons. This is giving
enough
capacity of the vessel to carry 8,450 TEU. The vessel is very good
designed and has some innovations, which can be seen to some of
the older ships built by this ship-owner, just like innovation in
propulsion system, engine CO2 emissions and of course in cover of
the steel. This is increasing the speed and decreasing the water
resistant, which allows to the vessel to sail with high speed in
lower fuel consumption. The main engine of P&O Nedlloyd Michelangelo
is DU-Sulzer 12RT-flex 96C, which has a full power of 61,900kW x
94.0rpm. As each container ship, P&O Nedlloyd Michelangelo also
needs of high speed and builders allowed to the vessel to sail with
24.6 knots cruising (or economy speed). The maximum speed of the
vessel under ballast is 26.1 knots. That is incredible for even
container ship.
P&O Nedlloyd Michelangelo
is one of the best ships built by the builder IHI Marine United
Inc. The vessel was finished on 15th of June, 2005 and this was
the beginning of one long story about P&O Nedlloyd Michelangelo.
The ship is high qualitied and that is why she is certified by Germanisher
Lloyd Register. That was the vessel property of P&O Nedlloyd
B.V., Germany, which we introduced in this section. Today this vessel
is known as Maersk Sarnia, because it was chartered by the famoust
company for container carrying. date: 9th August, 2008
