The
gas carrier Rhourd Enouss is one of the large and very profitable
for the ship-owner Sonatrach Petroleum Corporation, which is operating
with large number of LPG ships. The vessel has capacity for 59,392
cubic meters and deadweight of 44,399 metric tons, with gross tonnage
of 35,306 gross tons. The LPG Carrier has overal length of 204.92
meters, length between perpendiculars of 200.45 meters. The beam
of Rhourd Enouss is 32.20 meters, depth is 20.20 meters and when
the vessel is fully loaded has draft of 12.10 meters. This large
vessel should have strong and reliable main engine, so the ship-builders
installed Kawasaki-MAN B&W 6S60MC-C with full power of 13,560
kW at 105 rpm, which is enough for the vessel to reach maximum speed
of 17.5 knots and operating speed of 17.1 knots. this is too high
speed for such type of vessel, but actually the ship-owner required
so high speed in any cost. The vessel was completed in 2008 by Kawasaki
Shipbuilding Corporation. The vessel is the second delivered vessel
from three LPG Carriers ordered by Sonatrach Petroleum Corporation
to Asian Ship-yard.
Rhourd Enouss has four cargo tanks, all designed in
independent cargo handling style. This means that each tank can
be loaded separately without mixing the different types of petroleum
transported by ship. the tanks are designed with special durable
steel to lowest temperatures of minus 50 degrees Celsius, which
are insulated with foam. The loading and discharging of cargo can
be done practicaly from 4 points, which is showing the high rate
of the cargo handling. the higher speed of the vessel is comming
from improved shape of the vessel and also new coverage of the hull
steel, which is giving lower water resistance. The main engine from
MAN B&W type is super-long stroke, 2-cycle low-speed. Also the
fuel consumption is not freduced to minimum, but in environmental
rates, required by IMO and its convention SOLAS. The cargo and engine
system can be controled remotedly with high efficincy and high accuracy.
This is reducing ship's officer attention to monitoring and increasing
the positive actions from them. date: 6th April, 2009
