Seri
Bakti is the largest LNG carrier built with membrane type. The vessel
is produced in the Nagasaki Shipyard and Machinery Works by the
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd, which is one of the largest and
best companies for ship-building. The cargo tank capacity of the
vessel is 152,944 cubic meters and this makes the vessel pretty
large and profitable for the ship-owner. The vessel is the largest
one built from the series of five membrane LNG carriers, ordered
from the largest shipping company of Malaysia - MISC. The agreement
as signed in 2004 and this year on water was out the first and largest
vessel - Seri Bakti. The vessel has an overall length of 289.80
meters and length between perpendiculars is 276.80 meters. Seri
Bakti has a beam of 46.50 meters, depth of 25.80 meters in the middle
and draft in the middle of 11.25 meters, while the vessel is fully
loaded. The gross tonnage of the vessel is 105,335 metric tons.
And so large measurements vessel with so heavy and strong equippment
needs of large engine, which should give enough power to the all
propulsion system. The main engine of the Seri Bakti LNG carrier
is Mitsubishi Marine Steam Turbine MS36-2A, with full power of 24,500kW.
This heavy and strong engine can move the vessel with cruising speed
of 19 knots.
The maximum allowed speed of the LNG carrier is 19.8 knots.
The vessel has new and innovated form and design. The
hull form is newly designed and together with the whole propulsion
system, achieves higher efficiency and decrease fuel consumption
of the main engine. y designed hull form, together with the propulsion
system, achieves higher efficiency and fuel saving. The fuel oil
tanks are situated and constructed in double hull form, which saves
space and reduces the risk of polution to minimum. The vessel can
opperate in not so many ports but the profitability for even one
voyage of Seri Bakti is pretty enough for the ship-owner.
Seri
Bakti is vessel which is designed to be profitable and easy for
use. The bridge is constructed with 360 degrees visibility. The
GPS and dGPS systems are calculating ship's possition accurate and
electronic chart is solving all the problems about ships maneuvering.
All newest and most modern equippment in situated on board of Seri
Bakti and this makes the vessel very interesting in engineer point
of view. This is one of the pearls in malaysian ship-owner MISC.
