     Taiga

Taiga VLCC  Motor vessel “Taiga” is one of the largest cruide carriers of the world. But that is not everything about the ship, because it is the newest vessel designed with newest innovations and technologies on board to prenet pollution and to save the Earth from any type of pollution. The ship was built by Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. On 28th March, 2007 and is part of the group of largect vessels of the world – VLCC (Very Marge Crude Carriers). The deadweight of m/v Taiga is 311,141 metric tons, while the Gross tonnage is 160,109 metric tons. These measurements are giving to the vessel front place of newly built ships. The ship has overall length of 333 meters and length between perpendiculars of 324 meters. The beam of m/v “Taiga” is 60 meters and the draft is 20.93 meters. So large ship should carry very large volume of cargo, to be profitable, and the cargo tanks’ capacity is 354,751 cubic meters. The vessel is optimized from the builders to be maximum efficient for its ship-owner. The ship is Malaca-max type tanker, which means that this is the largest vessel (by measurements, mostly draft), which can pass through Malaca straight. The ship-owner of m/v Taiga is Fortis Maritime S.A, which is large company on American and Asian market of transportation and logistics.
The main engine of m/v Taiga is Mitsui-MAN B&W 7S80MC with power of 27,160 kW at 76 rpm. This large engine allows to the vessel to reach a maximum speed of 15 knots, but the economy cruising speed is 1 knot less – 14 knots. The crew on board of m/v Taiga is 30 personal from different nationalities. The cargo system of the super-tanker is very strong and innovated, which allows to the ship to be loaded from 3 points, and to be discharged from 3 points too. In fact for many ships this is typical procedure, but not every pump can keep enough power to continue discharging or loading for so long time, like those. The rate of unloading is 3,000 cubic meters per hour from each point. That means that this ship can be very quickly discharged, just for some days by it own cargo pumps. But innovations continue with out tour through the vessel. The bow has new form, a little bit larger, but more efficient for passing through the waves. The propeller of the vessel is high efficiently Mitsui Integrated Propeller Boss with Wing, which is energy saving. It also has generating system, which quickly recover the gas heat energy by the main engine. This ship is some of the engineer wonders of 2007, and one of the most beautiful engineer outfit. It is very usefult and efficiently designed to be profitable for its owner.
