Just
some years ago the vessel Xin Shanghai was the largest ship carrying
containers in the world, but when Emma Maers, was built she took
the first place and left the Xin Shanghai on the third place. The
ship has a length of 336.7m and a width of 45.6 m. These measurements
are giving to the vessel a deadweight of 107,200 m.t. According
to calculations of the ship-owner CSCL, the ship can carry 9,600
TEU, devided into 18 rows by 8 tiers on the weather deck and also
16 rows to 10 tiers in the holds. This is enormous and the vessel
is definitely one of the biggest in the world ever built container
ships. This is very interesting vessel with its interesting looking

The main engine
of the ship is MAN B&W 12K98MC-C, which is giving to the vessel
a power of 68,520 kW. All contain vessels need a lot of speed to
reach the next port quickly and to do their job perfectly. That
is why this ship need so big power. The speed that Xin Shanghai
can make under ballast is 25.4 knots. The ship is sailing under
the flag of Hong Kong. Company CSCL has also 2 more ships sisters
