 One
of the newest and largest container vessels of Ahrenkiel is motor
vessel Palatia. The vessel is chartered by CMA CGM and got the name
CMA CGM Oceano. Palatia, or CMA CGM Oceano, was built in 2006 in
the shipyard of STX Shipbuilding Co. Ltd, South Korea. The vessel
is sailing under the flag of Liberia, like more of the Ahrenkiel
ships, but certified by Germanisher Lloyd Register. The deadweight
of the ship is 34,600 metric tons, the gross tonnage of the ship
is 27,100 metric tons and the net tonnage is 12,686 metric tons.
The length of Palatia (CMA CGM Oceano) is 210 meters, the breadth
is 30.10 meters and the draught is 11.50 meters. These parameters
are allowing to the ship to carry 2,572 TEU, which is pretty good
number for such ship. The vessel was built in 2006 and is part of
the new generation container vessels built with many innovations,
new technologies and also with very high standart. The ship Palatia
(CMA CGM Oceano) has a main engine MAN B&W 8S70MC-C with full
power of 24,880 kW at 91 rpm. The engine is very strong and gives
enough power to the vessel to reach the speed of 22 knots. The heavy
fuel oil used by Palatia (CMA CGM Oceano) is RMG 380, with low substances
and decrease the CO2 emissions with more than 15%. The vessel Palatia
(CMA CGM Oceano) has also 4 auxiliary diesel generators MAN B&W
7L28/32H with power of 1,470 kW each at 720 rpm. These diesel generators
are used to give power for bow thruster and for engine while in
maneuvering conditions. This is very important while ship is goint
at anchor, going in port and maneuvering for mooring operations.
The ship is very good and maneuverable and equipped with bow thruster
with power of 1,000 kW. Some additional information, which we can
add to the container ship Palatia (CMA CGM Oceano) is that reefer
plugs are 440. The cargo is devided into 5 holds, covered with 10
hatches. The vessel has also 4 cranes for changing the possition
of the cargo and for discharging if needed. Each crane has a capacity
of 45 tons. This is making the vessel pretty independent by shore
cranes and shore equipment, like all container ships.
The
vessel of Ahrenkiel with name Palatia (CMA CGM Oceano) is one of
well known container ships of the company. That is why we are trying
to present this ship to all our readers and to give some information
about the ship and the company, which has more than half a century
history in ship sailing, and own one of the greatest European fleets
containing container vessels, Gas Carriers, Bulk Carrier, Chemical
Tankers and Product Tankers. The ship is leader in European Chemical
